Accuracy and currency
We write from primary sources — the National Tax Agency (国税庁), the Japan Pension Service, the Immigration Services Agency, and Korea’s National Tax Service among others — and we link to them so you can verify what we say. Even so:
- Tax law, rates, thresholds and deadlines change, sometimes mid-year.
- Articles reflect our understanding at the time of writing and may not be updated immediately.
- Rules are applied to individual circumstances, and yours may differ from the general case described.
- Translations of Japanese and Korean legal terms are for readability, not legal precision.
Always confirm with the relevant tax office or a licensed professional before you file, pay, or make a financial decision.
Calculators
The calculators on this site are simplified estimating tools. They deliberately omit deductions, exemptions, local variations and special cases in order to stay usable. Results are rough estimates for orientation only and will differ from official assessments. Do not use them as the basis for a filing.
